Work with an EFT Supervisor
Want to stretch your EFT skills? Get support to get certified? We’re here to help you reach your EFT goals!
Local EFT Supervisors who are here for you! . . .
I have trained therapists since 1996 and love coming alongside folks just like you to help you stretch and grow. I am also passionate about the EFT model, so it is the perfect fit to pair the two. I provide a warm, safe stance for supervision, believing that we all learn best when we feel safe and supported, since it is hard to take risks if we don’t feel completely safe. So, I, first and foremost, work to help you feel that safety so you can grow in the ways you desire to reach your goals. I am also a purist when it comes to EFT, so I offer my commitment to support you in diving into the heart of this lovely attachment-based model in a clear, focused, and congruent manner. If you are interested in exploring supervision with me and would like to get a sense of me, here are some places you can explore: Certification Benefits and Slowing Down in EFT. I would also encourage you to visit my EFT supervision website: www.growingconnections.live.
If this fits with what you are wanting for your EFT journey or you would like more information, let me know! I’d love to have the honor of walking alongside you!
In 2007, I attended an externship in EFT thinking I would “add” it on to my many theories and trainings on relationships. But EFT touched something in me that felt real and honest and heart-felt and deeply human and healing. I loved its dual theories of present process and attachment perspective—to find a path that is connected to the present reality and organizes life in attachment needs to body and others. As a supervisor now since 2016, I try to be emotionally present to you and your experience, longings, and needs as a therapist. I work with you to make sense of and respond to your emotional ever changing experience and also help you attune to the blocks and longings of your clients. I have a pretty keen sense as a supervisor now of how to guide us in that process.

RHONDA PETERMAN-STIVER, M.A., LPC, ICEEFT
Certified EFCT/EFIT/EFFT Therapist, and EFCT Supervisor-in-Training
I am an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) Supervisor-in-Training focused on supporting therapists who want to deepen their work with couples. I have been practicing EFT since 2017 and specialize in working with couples, particularly those navigating challenges related to intimacy and connection.
My clinical work is informed by ongoing training toward certification as a sex therapist, which allows me to bring additional perspective and sensitivity to issues of desire, couples facing changes in intimacy due to health, pain, or physical limitations, and emotional intimacy within relationships.
As a supervisor-in-training, my goal is to create an environment that feels light, accepting, and comfortable—a space where therapists can slow down, reflect, and grow without fear of judgment. I value curiosity and believe that supervision works best when it feels safe to explore both strengths and stuck points openly.
In our work together, I aim to help you:
Deepen your understanding of EFT theory and interventions
Strengthen your ability to track and work with emotional processes
Build confidence in working with couples, including complex or stuck cases
Explore your own reactions in session in a supportive, collaborative way
My supervision is collaborative and experiential. We’ll focus not just on what to do in sessions, but how to be present, attuned, and effective as an EFCT therapist. You can reach me through email or my website.
JONATHAN DIXON, LMFT, ICEEFT Certified EFCT Therapist, and EFCT Supervisor-in-Training
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, ICEEFT Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist, and EFCT Supervisor-in-Training. I work with therapists at all levels of EFT training — from those newly encountering the model to more advanced clinicians refining their case conceptualization and intervention skills. My supervisory approach is grounded in the same relational principles that make EFT effective with clients: I believe supervision works best when supervisees feel secure enough to be honest about what's hard, curious about their blind spots, and genuinely supported in their growth. I incorporate Deliberate Practice methods into my supervision, using structured feedback and ongoing outcome monitoring to help clinicians develop not just theoretical fluency but measurable, session-level skill. I also bring openness and respect to questions of spirituality and meaning, welcoming supervisees to explore how their clients' inner lives — including faith and worldview — can be engaged thoughtfully within the EFT model. My goal is to train therapists who don't simply follow a protocol — but who can track emotional process, work flexibly within the model, and build the kind of therapeutic alliance that makes change possible

If you are wanting additional options for possible ICEEFT approved EFT Supervisors, feel free to check out the ICEEFT website’s list of supervisors or ask one of the above supervisors for recommendations. Through videoconferencing technology (like HIPAA compliant, encrypted forms of Zoom), EFT therapists can have access to quality EFT Supervisors from around the country. While we would be honored to journey with you, the most important thing is that you get your need met and reach your EFT goals!
As stated on the ICEEFT website:
“the words “supervisor” and “supervision” are used expressly for the purpose of training in the EFT model, and do not imply / constitute any ethical / legal responsibility for cases discussed. For all intents and purposes, a Certified EFT Supervisor is an EFT consultant. All therapists receiving such supervision / consultation are wholly responsible for the therapy they provide and they are also responsible for receiving appropriate supervision, as required, by their respective governing and/or licensing authorities. ICEEFT requires that every effort be made to protect the confidentiality of the client. Any web-based sharing of information or encryption of sessions must be done in accordance with the standards of the professional college of the supervisor.
